What is the Homebound Buddy Ministry?
The Homebound Buddy Ministry is one step in meeting our Pastor's Living on Purpose goal to " Launch ministries that will transform Central Baptist Church into a fellowship of mercy and recovery".
The Homebound Buddy Ministry is a ministry not an activity. It involves building a relationship not just making a visit. The ministry seeks to meet not only spiritual needs but also physical, social, emotional and mental needs. It is hearing Jesus say, "I assure you that when you do it (minister) to the least of my brothers and sisters you are doing it to me." (Matthew 25:40).
The Homebound Buddy Ministry is also a fellowship. It involves people who know they have been called to serve in this ministry and who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences with other Homebound Buddy's. They also know their need for prayer and look forward to the fellowship of prayer when they join with other Homebound Buddy's in monthly meetings.
The Homebound Buddy Ministry is also a responsibility. The responsibility is to participate in training events that will better equip them to make a helpful visit, be a good listener, express their caring concern, share in prayer, discover and meet the needs and minister in crisis.
The Homebound Buddy Ministry is a lifeline. The ministry keeps alive the vital link the homebound has with his/her church family and the church family has with the homebound. Through the Homebound Buddy Ministry the homebound is kept informed about the church and remains involved in the work of our Lord through the church by giving, by praying and by participating when possible.
